Timeline Tracker – World Anvil

World Anvil is my favorite tool for worldbuilding. It lets you keep track of characters, organizations, factions, star maps, and much more! When writing an extensive space opera, it’s difficult to keep track of what happened and when. World Anvil’s timeline module allows you to track your universe’s history across eons.

Star System Mapper – Sectors Without Numbers

If you don’t want to spend hours exploring space, try out this tool instead. It generates complete sectors filled with systems, planets, moons, stations, and more. Every world will have background information on its population, allies, enemies and unique economic, environmental and political factors. It’s a great help when facing writer’s block and you’re in need of some quick inspiration.

Star System Creator – Donjon

Are you writing hard sci-fi and you need detailed info on the star system your characters just entered? Donjon will output multiple planets, their distance from their star, their size, atmosphere and more. It cuts off hours of research time for your novel.

Database List – Scifiideas.com

SciFi Ideas is a treasure trove of writing prompts, concept generators, and articles aimed at sparking creativity. There are too many tools to mention here, but I especially like their name generators (characters, planets, spaceships, corporations and more). Even the most creative minds could use a little help with naming entire galaxies.
